“The working theme for this house was ‘quality.’ Our clients were sophisticated citizens of the world who came to Ottawa via Europe, North Africa and the USA. The family was accustomed to living in very large American-style homes. Although the husband’s role as a world renowned economist meant he traveled frequently, the couple also hosted, many social events. They required an impressive house, distinguished by total quality, and a brash, ‘in-your-face’ design, plus lots of space."

Since Canadian building techniques are often different than those employed in the USA, we had some work to do to demonstrate that the practices we proposed were designed to meet the demands of our Canadian winters. Working with the client we developed a design for a 6000 sq. ft. two story, five bedroom house, meticulously sited on a slope to allow for walkout ground floor access to a backyard pool. Princiotta Group’s long history in the business gave us privileged access to the city’s best ‘old world’ artisans to meet the clients requirement for quality. “The end result was a luxurious but livable home, carefully sited on a unique sloping lot, to maximize the impact of its many features. The house backs on to our Orchard View wildlife reserve --a real thrill for the children in the family –and offers a view of Orchard View’s man made lake. It was built to very high standards and delivered on time.
